Dear Tom,
I have been a motorcycle cop for 7 years, I am currently on my 4th bike and have travelled approximately 500,000km in my duties, most of which has been highway patrol and Escort duties (so a lot of LONG distance riding regularly).
With having the most recent R1200RT issued to me a little over a year ago, I found the seat was harder than previous models. I used compression foam and lambswool seatcover, but I was still getting that “sore bum” and lower back problems.
I ride with a fairly stiff suspension setting due to the weight of stuff we carry plus me (140kg with leathers and gunbelt on). U do feel every bump.
I regularly ride 200-600km per day, and I have used your Airhawk Cushion now for several thousand kilometres.
After some trial and error testing, I believe I found the right amount of air, and it has made my lower back and bum better at the end of a long day.
I do still need to have the lambswool cover over the top, so it may differ slightly than other peoples reports, but that is due to appearance and theft prevention at public events.
I can say that I have stood up on the foot pegs and “plopped” back down in the saddle and the cushion has held up well with my heavy weight. I know you have reported a “rise” of 6cm, but this has also helped a tall bloke like myself, with lesser knee bend due to the higher seating position.
I can recommend this product to anyone that has to sit in the same place for any length of time.
