Hello and Welcome to the AirHawk Talk Blog. This is where AirHawk Cushion users get to share their stories, goss, and basically catch up with each other.
I’m Tom Thornley, the AirHawk Guy, and you know I’m an avid motorcyclist and that I love my AirHawk Cushions! We’d love to hear any stories about your time on your bike or AirHawk Cushions - so please leave your comments!
Cheers and happy travels!
What a relief!!!!!…….finally a 300 km trip with no discomfort whatsoever.
Even a BMW seat (R1150RS) couldn’t do the trick until we both got our Airhawk seats.
We are now looking forward to a long weekends riding, approx. 1000 km’s, to give them a real testing but we know they will do fine, and the best thing is my wife is super comfortable on her Airhawk pillion pad.
I dont know why I didn’t get them years ago.
Ever since I got my airhawk, I’ve had nothing but comfort. Having broken a few bones in my back, including my tail bone, (thankfully none from riding), I use to get a lot of pain when on a long ride. Now I have no issue at all. My last trip was a quick weekend ride to Adelaide (from Melbourne) and it was nothing but comfort, apart from the soaring heat.
In a couple of months, I head up to Cairns, and need to do at least 1,000km a day to get there in time for an event. I know there will be no issues with my comfort getting there. The AirHawk even makes a good pillow at night when I am camping.
Hi I am a female rider, I own a Virago 1100, 1986 , love the ride, but going from Toowoomba to Townsvile for a meet I ended up with tailbone issues, the only problem I had the whole ride.
Was wondering if the airhawke seat was suitable for this bike, as someone told me otherwise, due to the dip in the seat.
Other people who have them on their bikes (differnt makes and models) say they are great
So was just wondering if anyone had,and was useing one on a similar bike. Would love to hear back,
Reagads Rani..,
Hi Rani,
You need the Medium Cruiser. It will prevent your tail bone from rubbing or bumping on anything and make you more comfortable by absorbing vibration.
Cheers,
Tom.
G’Day Tom,
My poor old ass is crying out for assistance.
The pillion in a million also wants some help.
What size “Airhawk’s” (Rider and Pillion) would I need to fit a Corbin Dual Canyon saddle on our ST1100?
And does the “Airhawk” shorten the legs very much?

Hi Bob,
You need the Medium Cruiser and the Large Pillion for your seat. Airhawk cushions are designed to mould themselves to your individual shape and they achieve that with a small amount of air, the result is that they will raise your seat height by around 1/4″ or 6mm.
Kind Regards,
Tom.
Gday all,
I just rang Tom and told him of my recent time on my Airhawk. I did a 900KM ride from Sydney to Wagga and back in 1 day with no pain, discomfort, numb bum, or any of the usual seat related aches and pains.
Without the Airhawk, I doubt I would have even got to Wagga without an overnight stop on the stock seat of my Kawasaki ER6F.
So, thanks Tom and thanks Airhawk.
2 part video of the trip can be viewed at http://www.livevideo.com/brotherblonde (scroll down to see “There and back again. Apologies to Bilbo Baggins
”
Thanks again,
Andrew.
G’Day Tom,
After a test ride last Saturday on a Moto Guzzi Californian, only a half hour ride was enough to make me wonder if I was looking at the right style of bike (tailbone broken twice 18months ago), so I took a Triumph Sprint for a ride which was much better for the tail bone but I think the wallet would be severely impaired by the constabulary so I went back to the Californian with a borrowed Airhawk and the difference was incredible, the unusual feeling as the air moves between the cells to balance the load on the seat was a little disconcerting at first but after only a short ride I was sold.
So I picked up the Guzzi yesterday and now I need a Airhawk for myself!!!
Regards Graeme
